Open a map from a project

After you create a project, you can open it to see the components, participants, and assignments you've collected to meet a specific goal. If one of those components is a map, you don't have to go back to the Components browser to open it, you can do it from within the project where you're working. Choosing to edit a map topic from the Project's component list opens the map in the Oxygen map editor.

A content owner or administrator can set permissions to deny access to components or folders. If your permissions to content has been blocked and you are not an administrator, you cannot use the Edit or View options in a project's Content pane. If a map is locked by another user, it opens as read-only and the name of the user who has the map locked appears in the read-only message. You cannot make changes to a map in read-only mode.

To open a map from a project:

  1. Click Projects_TopMenuOpt Projects.
  2. On the Project Management tab, all projects in your organization are listed.
To find a specific project, you can:
    • Filter the list of available projects by words in the project name. In the Search text box, enter a keyword, and then click the magnifying glass search_button.
    • Filter the list of available projects to include only those you own or are participating in. In Type, select an option to filter the list by that criteria.
    • To include completed projects in the list, select Include Completed and then click search_button the magnifying glass.
  3. To open project details, select the project and double-click it.

You can also open a project by:

    • Right-clicking the project and then selecting Open.
    • Clicking Action_Menu the Options menu and then selecting Open.
  4. In the Contents pane, to expand all topics, click .
  5. In the Contents pane, locate the map and double-click it.
You can also open the map in the following ways:
    • Right-click, and then select Edit.
    • Click the Action menu, and then select Edit.

When you open a document, you may see all of the referenced content expandable and editable in Oxygen. This can happen when you select Edit... because an administrator has configured Oxygen to open all map and bookmap components with the referenced content ready to expand and edit.

    • You can go the Components browser and use the component's Options menu to check if there is an option to Edit with referenced content. This option is not available in a project's Content pane.
    • If you do not see the option in the Components browser either, then you do not have the option to open a component without the referenced content expandable and editable.
