Set a default filtering value

You can edit profiling attribute values to provide authors with attributes they need to identify conditional text. You can also set a Default filtering value to help users quickly apply attribute filters without selecting a value. The user filtering the attributes can leave the default value, clear the default selection, or select a different value.

To set a default profiling value:

  1. Click Administration_TopMenuOpt Administration, then Advanced settings, and then select Profiling attribute management.
  2. On the Profiling attribute management tab, to edit a profiling attribute, do one of the following:
    • Double click the attribute in the list
    • Click Update Update
  3. On the Update Profiling Attribute screen, select the Valid Values tab.
  4. Find the value you want to set as the default and double-click the row.
    Result: The row's fields become editable so you can update the value.

  5. To identify this value as the one selected for a user by default when applying the attribute in the Oxygen editor, select the Default Filter option.
    Tips and tricks
    • This Default Filter value is only used in the following places:
      • In the Oxygen Editor on the Filter Profiling Attributes screen.
      • When publishing a component on the Filter Profiling Attributes screen.
      • When translating a component on the Filter Profiling Attributes screen.
    • The user filtering the attribute can leave the default value or select another one.
  6. Directly under the Value and Display Value fields, click Update.
  7. To save all your new Valid Values, n the Update Profiling Attribute dialog, click Update
