Moving folders

To organize content so that it meets the needs of your organization, you can move folders in the Components browser.

  • Move a single folder to be a root folder. Remove a folder from its current location in the folder hierarchy and add it in alphabetical order to the folders at the system folder level.
    • After moving a folder to the root level, it will have no parent folder.
    • Root-level folders are the only ones shown when you collapse the folder list.
    • This option is available from the Options and right-click menus.
    • Follow the steps in: Move a folder to be a root folder.
  • Move a single folder into another folder. Open the Select a Target folder screen to remove a folder from its current location in the folder hierarchy and add it to the selected existing folder.
    • After moving a folder into another folder, it will have a new parent folder.
    • This option is available from the Options and right-click menus.
    • Follow the steps in: Move a folder into another folder.
  • Move multiple folders at once. Open the Move Folder screen to see the entire folder hierarchy. Select one or more folders to move, then select where to move them.
    • The Move Folder option opens the Move Folder screen and is ONLY available in the Folders toolbar.
    • Follow the steps in: Move multiple folders at once.

    Restrictions:

    • You cannot move a folder to the root level using the Move Folder screen. To do this, you must right-click a single folder, select Move... and then select Move to root.
    • In the Components browser, the Move Folder option is not available from the right-click or Options menus.
    • The Move Folder option is not available when managing content in a project.
