Working with XLSX files
XLS is the file format used by Microsoft to store Excel spreadsheet documents. The XLSX format includes XML data. XLSX files are essentially a collection of XML files compressed into a single ZIP file. These XML files store various parts of the document, such as text, formatting, styles, and images.
If you don't see the XLSX options described in these topics, contact your Vasont salesperson to purchase this feature.
Inspire only currently supports XLSX in a limited capacity:
- Importing. If you import a DOCX file, it is stored as a binary file, like an image. You cannot edit or change the content in Inspire.
- Viewing. You can view the first two pages of a DOCX file. There is no component preview in the Components browser.
- Attaching to a component.
- Inserting

You can tell that a component is a Microsoft EXCEL file by looking for the
XLSX File Type icon in the Components browser and other screens that list components.![]()
