Profile content with DITA Subject Scheme
Profiling text is a way to mark blocks of text meant to appear in some renditions of the document but not in others. Conditional text differs from one variant of the document to another, while unconditional text appears in all document versions. For example, you can mark a section of a document to be included in a manual for expert users and another section for novice users, while unmarked sections are included in all renditions. Inspire provides a way to create and apply profiling attributes, or the attributes used in a DITA Subject Scheme can be applied.
To apply and filter content using a DITA Subject Scheme:
- Import the Subject Scheme XML file into your project.
- Add a topic reference to the Subject Scheme XML file in your bookmap.
- Open the bookmap in Oxygen Author.
- Add content to your bookmap or topics as needed.
- Click Update Profiling Attributes to open a dialog that lists the profiling attributes from the Subject Scheme, if one is available in the map. When a Subject Scheme is available, its profiling attributes take precedence over those defined in the Inspire configuration.
- Apply filtering attributes to the content based on your Subject Scheme definitions.
- Filter the content using the available attribute values.
